The Baldur's Gate 3 Creators Reveal a Latest Divinity, Declaring it Their Biggest RPG Yet

The speculation about this year's gaming ceremony reached a fever pitch, especially after presenter Geoff Keighley posted an enigmatic image of a desert monolith. The secret has been revealed. Larian Studios is working on a fresh Divinity game.

Titled simply Divinity, the game was debuted with a audacious trailer packed with striking imagery, from a figure engulfed in flames to an orgy and the literal unleashing of hell.

Not the Expected Sequel

For those anticipating Divinity Original Sin 3, that is not happening. The studio clarified that a direct sequel to its critically acclaimed RPGs is not on the cards right now.

That said, the developer described this new Divinity as a continuation of the main series. This distinction suggests that the team is likely crafting a more action-oriented experience instead of another tactical title. Currently, we can only guess, as only a teaser video is available.

What Makes Divinity Special

The Divinity series is highly rated and many say it kicked off the recent resurgence of deep computer role-playing games. These games are defined by detailed worlds, choice-driven narratives, and flexible progression—traits that later reached new heights in games like Baldur's Gate 3.

While its world is classic fantasy, what makes Divinity apart is the immense freedom given to the player.

While numerous modern RPGs have streamlined options, Divinity is packed with unique possibilities you can achieve if you're playing as a particular class or origin with a specific history of choices.

The series is also notoriously flexible, enabling players to find creative solutions throughout the entire experience. Most missions can be solved in a variety of manners, frequently in surprising fashion.

  • You might find an answer because you heeded something a dog told you.
  • Or, you could bypass a challenge by teleporting a glob of lava in a clever way.

More to Come

It is precisely these elements that lead fans and critics to label games like Divinity Original Sin 2 as among the greatest role-playing games ever made. Now, fans can get ready for a new entry in this legendary franchise.
