Ever since the premiere of the fourth campaign, fresh DM Brennan Mulligan has kept viewers on edge with rich lore, a wide array of personalities, and a gripping narrative including angels, fiends, and malevolent powers increasing in power within Dol-Makjar.
Heads-up: Spoilers for the latest installment of Campaign 4 are included.
The Warrior Group Unveiled
Episode 3 concluded with a huge suspense moment and presented the initial group of characters who will separate from the main group to begin their separate journey, distinct from the other two tables.
The combat-focused team includes Teor (played by Travis Willingham), the nimble rogue (Laura Bailey), the strong-willed figure (Whitney), Wicander (Sam), and Kattigan (Robbie Daymond).
The Reason for Division
Considering a large ensemble, it was evident from the beginning that having everyone at the same party would be unworkable.
This explains, the opening chapters of Campaign 4 serve as an Prelude, connecting the individual narratives before dividing into three distinct groups: Warriors, Planners, and Explorers.
The Nature of the Warrior Group
As described by the DM, the combat-focused party is for players who enjoy a typically action-packed combat and conflict-driven narrative style where diplomatic options are few and far between.
Upon first impression, figures such as the reluctant priest Wicander might seem unsuited, but the events of the third episode make it clear why these five characters are ideally matched for the warrior group.
Motivations for Departure
To begin with, the party has a clear idea where to go next after a brutal first encounter with The Crow Keepers.
Casimir of the deceased character—whose demise initiated the narrative’s action—used The Crow Keepers for his personal gain, entering Thjazi’s hideout, attacking Thimble, and taking all the enchanted items to dispose of.
The traitor then cleared his debts and escaped to a fortified location in the northern region, beyond the city, with Teor’s brother close behind.
Individual Reasons
Additionally, each member has a personal reason to leave the city Dol-Makjar:
- The rogue, as Thjazi’s partner and best friend, desires retribution.
- The adventurer has experience in the northern area and cautions that it is a dangerous location.
- The warrior and The healer, having resisted his relatives’ demands to kill Teor and instead freed him, have no other options.
- But, their status as prominent individuals in the powerful family could assist the team access locations they usually can’t.
- Additionally, Teor vowed a unbreakable promise to Wicander for his deliverance and will now follow him everywhere.
Fugitives
Lastly, all of them are hunted by the rulers that rule the city for a variety of reasons, making lingering locally no longer safe:
- The rogue and The hero are known criminals.
- The warrior and The cleric defied House Halovar and the horde of evil beings they are aligned with.
- Teor is marked for death by the clan.
This results in them no alternative but to journey toward Timmony in search of the traitor.
Future Episodes
Based on the latest episode’s post-show segment, we find out that the warrior group won’t be around in the upcoming installment, leaving the other eight participants to round up the Explorers and Schemers tables.
