We'll Crown the Best Title of the Console Generation: Final Four
The past two days have been incredibly eventful. On Monday, we celebrated the five-year anniversary of the PS5 and Xbox Series X consoles with a tournament to determine the top exclusive title of this hardware cycle. We presented eight PlayStation 5 titles and eight Xbox Series X exclusives to face off against each other, culminating in a championship round where the top game from each console would go head-to-head. We've witnessed some nail-biting finishes in the first two rounds, particularly yesterdayâs razor-thin votes. At this point, it's moment to decide the leading PlayStation and Xbox titles ahead of the championship on Thursday.
The PS5 Side
On the PS5 side, we have the Kratos-killer, Astro Bot. Maybe it should be no surprise considering that it won top honors at last yearâs Game Awards, but its win against God of War Ragnarök feels like a true upset. However, to reach the championship, it'll need to defeat the MVP of the PS5 generation: the acclaimed developer. Marvelâs Spider-Man 2 had a smooth path to the final four, defeating Ghost of YĆtei and Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart (another title from the same studio!) to secure a spot in the semi-finals. Will Spider-Man defeat a beloved PlayStation icon, or is he destined to become a chibi cameo in the next Astro Bot game?
Xbox Series X Contenders
For Xbox Series X has been more exciting. Coming out on top from a diverse lineup of contenders is Forza Horizon 5. It's a significant win for the racing adventure title already, proving that a more specialized genre game earns to be on the same pedestal as traditional jump-and-run games and cinematic action-adventure games. Its final obstacle en route to the championship is a major challenge, though. Indiana Jones and the Great Circle has proven to be a fan favorite, beating critical darlings like Pentiment and Hi-Fi Rush. Will it overcome a larger-scale title from an well-known franchise that's synonymous with Xbox itself? If anyone can pull that off, it's probably Indy.
Cast your votes to determine the best PS5 and Xbox Series X games of this generation, and come back tomorrow to see which games will face off for the grand prize in the finals!
